Nano Manuel Hechavarria Ulloa (Cuba) and Yusimi Moya Rodriguez (Cuba)
Nano and Yusimi have enchanted our audience at Manana Ljubljana 2015 with their style and playfulness. Nano is one of the best afrocuban pedagogues we know: methodical, easy-to-follow, and inspiring. Yusimi is a classically-trained folkloric dancer with extremely broad dance horizons, and a pleasure to watch dancing. Together, they form an excellent team to bring you the best of Cuba in one energetic package! Nano hails from Santiago de Cuba, and owns one of the leading Cuban dance academies in Israel. Nano learned to play the trumpet at the music school in Santiago de Cuba, and started dancing reggaeton and hip-hop at age 10. From age 13 on, he danced for traditional Cuban dance troupes, created his first Rueda choreographioes at 15, and joined Yanek Revilla's "Casino.com" Rueda group to win Cuban national competitions. After 29 years, Nano moved to Israel and is today invited to many international festivals to give workshops on a variety of afrocuban dances, music, and joy of life. Yusimi Moya was born 1987 in Havana, Cuba. She began her career at the age of 12, when she entered the Escuela Nacional de Danza, a department of the reknown Escuela Nacional de Artes (ENA) in Havana. She graduated in 2005 receiving the Cuban diploma as a professional dancer and professor for contemporary and folkloric dances (Bailarín-Profesór de Danza Moderna y Folklórica). She was picked by the state-run "Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba" (also known as "Ballet Folklórico Nacional") and worked there for five years. Yusimi Moya has been on world tour with different shows of the "Conjunto Folklórico" (Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Mexico). Yusimi moved to Vienna in 2013, where she works in the areas of contemporary and afrocuban dance. https://www.facebook.com/nanocubandance/ http://www.cubancontemporary.com/ |
